In modern time, mathematics is considered as language of science. Any scientific phenomena, after expressing in to mathematical equation, becomes easier to manipulate, for better understanding of subject. Changing variable and simulating process is much more easier and cheaper than running it practically. That is why mathematical representation of natural phenomena is remarkable achievement of modern scientific advancements.
It also highlights untold fact that person should be aware with symbols, equations, notations to understand scientific phenomena. But, what about person having neither interest nor command over mathematics and has wish to understand science? That person neither remember nor has luck to understand!
I found, after studying Jyotish, ancient India had solution to this problem. The mathematical formulas were expressed in shloks rather than equations. For that, researchers has to be expert in language. Poetic representation of mathematics made it easy to remember and understand for common people. Contrary, notational representation of mathematics in current time prerequisites symbols first thus has made it difficult for common people to understand science expressed in the form of equation. This is the reason why many kids find mathematics difficult to remember or understand. It would have interesting for kids to study mathematics if represented in poetic form.
Modern notational mathematics has divided society in two groups: Who can understand mathematics and who can not understand mathematics. Science has become more elite subject, in the sense, only those who understand notations will have luck to study science.
